Nanny Piggins and the Runaway Lion by R. A. Spratt 01/03/2010

                            Picture
With a runaway lion loose in the neighbourhood, Derrick, Samantha and Michael feel scared. Nanny Piggins feels like a slice of cake. And Boris feels like that lion looks strangely familiar. In this third action-packed book of adventures, Nanny Piggins tames a lion and a lion tamer. She revolutionises the sport of ski jumping, introduces hot-pink leotards to the local Neighbourhood Watch, demonstrates trapeze skills on a moving bus, plays badminton with a wok and teaches Shakespeare a thing or two about how to write a play. All while thwarting Mr Greens attempt to send her favourite children to Nicaragua (she does find it wearisome having to put him in his place constantly). And yet, somehow, she still finds time to bake lots and lots of cake.

The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta 01/03/2010

Melina Marchetta's brilliant, heart-wrenching new novel takes up the story of the group of friends from her best-selling, much-loved book Saving Francesca - only this time it's five years later and Thomas Mackee is the one who needs saving.

Thomas Mackee wants oblivion. Wants to forget parents who leave and friends he used to care about and a string of one-night stands, and favourite uncles being blown to smithereens on their way to work on the other side of the world.

But when his flatmates turn him out of the house, Tom moves in with his single, pregnant aunt, Georgie. And starts working at the Union pub with his former friends. And winds up living with his grieving father again. And remembers how he abandoned Tara Finke two years ago, after his uncle's death.

And in a year when everything's broken, Tom realises that his family and friends need him to help put the pieces back together as much as he needs them.

Daphne, Sabrina and Puck's most magic-filled mystery yet! In book five of the series, Sabrina and Daphne Grimm are ready to tackle their own case: who is stealing the magical possessions of the most powerful Everafters in town? With Granny distracted by Mayor Heart's campaigning against human residents, the girl detectives are on their own. Puss In Boots (now an exterminator), Cinderella (a radio relationship counsellor), Sleeping Beauty (owner of a coffee shop), and their old enemy, Prince Charming, are among the many suspects, and one thing is for certain: the villain's plans mean a grim future for the Grimms-truly!

Skulduggery Pleasant Dark Days by Derek Landy 01/03/2010

                            Picture
What can we say, without giving too much away?

                            Not much, is the answer.

But what we CAN say is that this book is hilarious, it′s tense, and it′s packed with all the eye-popping action, crackling one liners and imaginative set pieces you′ve come to expect. There′s a new threat to our plucky heroine, of course. But that′s not all. There′s also the little fact of the Big Bad, the uber-baddy who′s going to come along and really, really destroy the world. (Really.) And what we learn about that villain in this book will literally make your jaw fall off and your hair go white with shock. (Not really.)

Will Skulduggery make it out of the Faceless Ones′ dimension? Who knows. The problem is, he may not have much to come back to...

Puggle by Catriona Hoy & Andrew Plant 01/03/2010

When Puggle the baby echidna is found in mother's pouch on the side of the road, he is taken to a tall house on a hill to live with lots other rescued animals who need help to get back into the wild. Little by little, Puggle thrives and grows, until the day comes when he is old enough to look after himself.

Based on a true account, Puggle is a heartwarming story full off interesting facts about echidnas.

Lord Sunday by Garth Nix 04/02/2010

                            Picture
Master of the Incomparable Gardens, the last of the Trustees, and the most powerful Denizen in the house, Lord Sunday is a fierce opponent. And Arthur is running out of time.
With everything falling to pieces around him, Arthur must be quick if he is to stem the tide of Nothing and save the House and the Secondary Realms. But he is beset by worries. Will he ever get home to his family? Does he have a home and family left? Is he even really human anymore? And perhaps most urgent of all: What will be revealed when the Will of the Architect is finally made whole?
Lord Sunday is the stunning conclusion to the blockbuster Keys to the Kingdom series.

Skullduggery Pleasant: The Faceless Ones by Derek Landy 04/02/2010

                            Picture
If you′ve read the previous Skulduggery books then you know what the Faceless Ones are - and if you know what the Faceless Ones are, then you can probably take a wild guess that things in this book are going to get AWFULLY sticky for our skeletal hero and his young sidekick.

If you haven′t read the previous Skulduggery books then what are you doing reading this? Go and read them right now, so that you know what all that stuff in the previous paragraph was about.

Done? Good. So now you′re on tenterhooks too, desperately awaiting the answers to all your questions, and instead you′re going to have to wait to read the book. Sorry about that.
